April 18, 2019 will mark the 50th anniversary of the taking over of the Straight at Cornell. It was the end of my sophomore year and finals were cancelled. I understood so little about the unresolved issues and demands of the African American protesters.
On April 23, there was a takeover of Day Hall.
Dale Corson was named president soon after the Straight takeover. His obituary gives one perspective on the event.
